A day late, but better late than never.  I think the set lists are getting better as we move up the ladder.

1.  Protest the Hero

“Sequoia Throne”

English: Rody Walker, lead vocals, the band Pr...

If you like your music metallic with a touch of big time screaming, then this song is made for you.  Released in 2008, Protest the Hero cuts loose in all directions.

2. Spirit of the West

“Political”

Spirit of the West at the Pacific National Exh...

A great song from 1987, Spirit of the West, and this song in particular, have always been part of personal soundtrack.

–

3. The Weakerthans

“Civil Twilight”

John K. Samson of the The Weakerthans at Calga...

This Winnipeg band, formed in 1997 released this song, which became an inst-rant classic. Love this song.

4. Daniel Lanois

“The Maker”

Daniel Lanois plays with Black Dub in 2011

Another entry from the great Daniel Lanois.

5. 5440

“Ocean Pearl”

Sweeter Things: A Compilation

A further entry from 5440.  This piece of Canadian classic rock history still sounds as fresh as it did the first time I heard.  Great song by a great sounding band.

Agreed. A pretty good set. What do you think of me splitting off the music to a different blog? Feedback us good.

I can understand the need for it, and think it’s a good idea, but I wonder if you’ll make yourself crazy managing multiple blogs.

As a reader of yours who looks forward to all your posts, I personally find it easier to have all your stuff in one place, but I don’t think I’ll have a problem following you across a few sites.

Are you also going to break off travel to its own site?

I am only considering the music. The original was supposed to be travel lol. I am now pondering travel/everything else on the original, while trying to maintain what I am doing now, just with a split. In transition, I’ll be reblogging the music to the original. The ADHD in me sees a need to tidy up and apply some focus. I see the going nuts part, so I don’t intend on doing more. I enjoy the music a lot, yet I think it is distracting to the other side, almost detrimental to me being me kind of.

Wow! Awesome! I couldn’t play #1 or #4 on my iPad, but I’ll get to them. These others I enjoyed immensely. I know Canada has some amazing groups, courtesy Lily’s husband, Paul. He’s turned me on to some great music.
    Thanks for sharing these, John.
